Recently, it has been told that Qatar, BlackRock and Chinese Airlines companies have captured almost 30% shares of Adani and it is being said that if India–Pakistan and India gets caught in proxy or direct war in any region then it is possible that there will be a big fall in the stocks of Adani Group. Actually, there are 2% people in the Indian GDP who own more than approximately $2 trillion but the remaining 95% people earn less than approximately $1100-$100 per capital. But if an India-Pakistan war happens, it is also possible that the Adani Group can completely go into the hands of foreign investors because according to the report of Hindenberg, it has already been reported that Adani has a debt of more than almost (around $40.2 billion). So in such a case, if Pakistani air force targets Indian economic refinery, airports, military sites and economic states like Ukraine, then its biggest impact will be on Adani Group.
Why Adani Group needs Qatar, BlackRock, and China for its foreign Investment or stakeholder?
Although some reports have said that most of the stock of Adani Group is in the hands of the promoters of which Gautam Adani owns about 72%. The top stakeholders of Adani Group in terms of promoter shareholding are: Gautam Adani and his associated entities through trusts and entities. As of the latest filings, the promoter group holds a significant portion of shares in Adani Group companies, with this stake increasing to 73.97% in Adani Enterprises Ltd as of March 2025, up from 72.61% in March 2024. The Adani Group attracts both domestic and foreign investors, including foreign direct investment (FDI). Promoters, including Gautam Adani and associated entities, hold a significant portion of shares in various Adani Group companies. Other stakeholders include mutual funds, public investors, and Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs). Notably, the Adani Group has attracted large-scale investments from entities like Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and TotalEnergies (TTE), indicating strong interest from global investors. For example, Adani Enterprises has promoters holding 69.23% of the company, while FIIs hold 17.75%. Adani Green Energy has promoters holding 57.26%, FIIs holding 17.13%, and the public holding 24.16%. Adani Ports has promoters holding 61.03% and FIIs holding 17.99%.

Adani’s biggest FDI partner country appears to be Sri Lanka, based on a major project in Colombo. The Adani Group, through its subsidiary Adani Ports, is developing and operating the Western Container Terminal at Colombo Port. This is a significant foreign investment in Sri Lanka’s port sector. The US government has also invested in this project, providing $553 million in financing through the US Development Finance Corporation (DFC). On the other hand, China itself also wants to put Chinese investment in Adani ports and Adani groups, but due to Modi, Xi Jinping and Pakistan army or regional conflics, China cannot take big risk in Adani Group.
